RSS Web Feeds

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is an easy way to keep updated automatically on websites you like. Instead of having to go to websites to look for new articles, you can use RSS to get them to tell you every time there is something new. Put the address of a web feed into your reader, and it will display the latest headlines, each one with a synopsis and link that will take you to the full story.

The Resident now provides RSS web feeds for a selection of our news sections. They automatically update as stories are added, showing what's new as it becomes available.

Terms of service

Our RSS feeds are for private use only. Commercial use, or use on any other website, is prohibited. If you wish to use a feed for anything other than private use, please contact info@portugalresident.com.

Each feed may only be requested once an hour. Any request to repeat a feed within this period will be rejected automatically.

(Webmasters: our headlines are available for use, free of charge, on your site. Click here for further information.)

How to use RSS feeds

To get the most from web feeds you need software called a feed reader or aggregator (although most browsers will display a feed in a basic format). Feed readers you could try include:

Windows
FeedDemon
Awasu

Mac
NetNewsWire

Windows/Mac/Linux
Amphetadesk (open source)

Web-based reader
Works in your web browser.
BlogLines

Once you have installed a feed reader you can add Resident feeds by clicking on the RSS web feed links above.

Setting up a feed differs from one aggregator to another, but it usually involves copying the URL of the feed (from the address bar on your browser) and pasting it into the reader.
